Vinous Neal Martin - 01 Oct 19
The 2016 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a slightly muffled bouquet that requires more clarity. Dark berry fruit, hints of leather and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, and although it is missing a little depth, it is driven by the fine bead of acidity and feels pert and fresh on the finish - very Charmes. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
